On 7 June 2018, His Excellency Mr. Nopporn Adchariyavanich, Ambassador of Thailand to Finland met with Mr. Pertti Nurmi, President of Chitalada Finland Thai Boxing Gym, at the Royal Thai Embassy, to discuss about cooperation in promoting “Muay Thai” (Thai Boxing) in Finland. 

Mr. Nurmi informed Ambassador Adchariyavanich that he plans to arrange the “Muay Thai” competition in Finland by inviting the Thai boxers to join the fights. Mr. Nurmi also ask for the Embassy’s cooperation in arranging the competition. Ambassador Adchariyavanich said that the Embassy is pleased to render cooperation in that event, and the two sides will be further coordinated on this matter.

“Muay Thai” has been known in Finland and among the Finns as approximate 140,000 Finnish tourists visit Thailand annually. There are also many Thai Boxing Gyms in Finland, including ones in Helsinki, which are run by the Finns.
