Change of Marrital Status in Thailand
Process in Finland/Estonia
Required documents:
1. An original recent extract from the population information system in Finland (Virkatodistus from Digi- ja väestötietovirasto(Maistraatti)/Digital and Population Data Services Agency (Notary Public))/ Estonia in English issued from Notary Public.
Personal details of a Thai applicant such as name, last name, current address, spouse, ex-spouse(in case of divorced), and marital status must be presented in the document.
2. A Marriage/Divorce certificate in English. (The document which is not in English language must be translated by a translator who has a translation license from the Finnish/Estonian authority.)
3. The above mentioned documents no.1 and no.2 must be brought to certified by the Legalisation Division of Ministry For Foreign Affairs, Finland or the consular deparment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Estonia.
Please note! Both original language and translate documents must certified by the Legalisation Division of Ministry For Foreign Affairs.

4. After the mentioned documents are certified by the Legalisation Division of Ministry For Foreign Affairs, Finland or the consular deparment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Estonia, they can be brought to The Royal Thai Embassy, Helsinki for certifying.
***During covid19, please make appointment before visiting the embassy. Please send the document that you need to legalized and Legalization form with a copy of passport to [email protected] for prior approval by e-mail. After approve, you will get appointment to visit the embassy. Please note! Only the person who has appointment can enter the embassy with the mask.
Process in Thailand
1. Bring the certified documents (Extract from the population information system in Finland and Marriage/Divorce certificate) to be translated into Thai and certified the tranlsation by Department of Consular Affairs

2. Bring the above certified translation to inform marital status at your municipality of residence.
3. Apply for a new Thai Identity Card after personal details such as marital status, last name has been changed in Thai house registration system.
4. Apply for a new Thai passport at Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand or contact The Royal Thai Embassy, Helsinki for reservation.
Note: In case that an applicant cannot travel to Thailand for changing marital status, he/she can visit The Royal Thai Embassy, Helsinki to write letters of attroney and send them to her assigned party in Thailand.
